JAMMU, Nov 30: ICCR Jammu presented a scintillating musical evening ‘Loko Migi Taang Sajne Di’ featuring legendary singer Krishan Lal Premi ‘Jatt’ in association with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages and JK Media this evening at Abhinav Theatre, here.
Sham Lal Choudhary, Minister for PHE, Irrigation, and Flood Control was the chief guest on the occasion.
Earlier welcoming the august gathering the Regional Director of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs Government of India dwelt in detail about the concept behind organizing such a unique programme. He informed that ICCR always endeavours to showcase rarest programmes and this also follows the same vision.
He said, in Dogri singing after ‘Phala Sapia Dogria’ sung by Lata Mangeshkar, it is Krishan Lal Premi Jatt’s ‘Loko Migi Taang Sajne Di’ which shot to the ultimate fame and has almost become a Dogri folk which is could be heard being hummed by every Dogri music lover.
On the occasion, Balwant Thakur informed that Krishan lal Premi Jatt popularly known as Premi Jatt was born in a lower middle class family in Shehzaadpur tehsil R.S.Pura, Jammu.
The evening started with a high note when he played his favourite instrument ‘Tumbi’ and begin singing ‘Madya Aa Jammua’. His magical voice kept the audience spellbound and they applauded the legendary singer repeatedly.
The programme reached to a crescendo when finally he hijacked the audience with his popular song ‘Loko Migi Taang Sajne Di’.
He was professionally given the accompaniment by Vikram Kumar on Harmonium, Satpal Saini on Dholak and Jai Dev on Electronic pad.  A film directed by Chander Shekhar on his song ‘Loko Migi Taang Sajne Di’ was also featured on the occasion.
Applauding the role of ICCR and J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages and JK Media, the chief guest of the evening Sham Lal Choudhary appreciated the programme and desired that such legends who have played a revolutionary role in propagating and promoting Dogri music should be recognised and more avenues be created to organise their frequent shows. The show was conducted by Anil Tickoo and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. AS Amn, additional Secretary J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages.
