ICccR & HRM organises lecture on ‘Leadership Challenges’

JAMMU, Feb 20: International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu, today organized a lecture on ‘Leadership Challenges in Combat Situations’.
The resource person for the lecture was Major General (Retd.) Naresh Badhani, who is  an Indian Army veteran with over 37 years of rich experience in areas of HRM, training and disaster management as well as security and related issues. The lecture was organized with the objective of understanding leadership from a multitudinal perspective and connecting lessons learnt from the Army to personal and professional life scenarios.
Major General (Retd.) Naresh Badhani reflected upon various personal experiences in Army especially challenging and combat situations wherein the pragmatic role of the leader was significant to contribute to the society and nation at large. He discussed various strategic leadership domains alongwith determining how adverse situations need to be tackled and strategic decisions need to be incorporated.
While throwing light upon the essential leadership qualities, he deliberated upon the need for leaders to indulge in the entire organisation matrix to ensure optimal performance by all in challenging environments. He also explained how trust, bonhomie, overt and covert behaviours, transparency, knowledge, conduct and organisational citizenship of the leader can truly make a difference to the functioning of the organisation. His inspirational thoughts, words and experiences left the audience awestruck.
Earlier, Professor Deepak Raj Gupta, Director, ICccR & HRM, JU, introduced ICccR and HRM’s ‘Prominent Lecture Series’ wherein leadership deliberations are made. He said that the idea of initiating such lecture series was conceived in consonance with the vision of Professor Neelu Rohmetra, presently Director, IIM, Sirmaur and Founder Director, ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu who has worked with immense commitment, focus, institutional focus and sense of contribution and is a true example of a leader. He added that today’s lecture was the first one in this series and more such lectures and resource persons will continue that shall be instrumental in shaping the leadership acumen, skills, competencies, perspectives and orientations of the students.
The lecture was attended by the students, research scholars and faculty members at ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu.
