JAMMU, Apr 14: The ongoing hunger strike by contractual lecturers (10+2), who are demanding their regularization, entered 59th consecutive day today.
The agitating contractual lecturers raised slogans against the Education Minister and State Government. They lamented that despite giving an assurance by Speaker Kavinder Gupta and MoS Education Priya Sethi, the Government has not come forward with a written agreement on their demand for regularization.
While addressing the protesters, president of Contractual Lecturers’ (10+2) Association, Arun Bakshi said that they would tolerate no more exploitation by the Government. “If our demands are not conceded at an earliest, we will make this agitation more vigorous and the Government will be responsible for the consequence,” he warned.
These contractual lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the ad-hoc/ contractual/consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
