Hunger strike of contractual lecturers enters 44th day

JAMMU, Mar 29: The hunger strike of contractual lecturers today entered 44th day but they did not get any response from the Government till date.
Upset over no response of the Government towards their demand of regularization, one of the agitating female contractual lecturer, who was fast unto death since March 12, was yesterday shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, after her condition deteriorated.
Another contractual lecturer Balwinder Kour, who was accompanying the Seema to GMC Jammu, is also undergoing treatment there, as her condition also deteriorated.
Jeevan Kumar, Sanjay Kumar Ranjan Bala and Kanchan Bala are also on chain hunger strike.
While addressing the protesting lecturers, Arun Bakshi, State president of (10+2) Contractual Lecturers Forum said that Government should avoid its apathetic attitude towards the contractual lecturers (10+2) and adopt sympathetic way to settle their problem.
The contractual lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act.2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the ad-hoc/contractual/consolidated employees after rendering seven years of service.
