Hunger strike by contractual lecturers enters 32nd day, 2 more protesters admitted in GMC

JAMMU, Mar 17: The hunger strike by contractual lecturers (10+2) entered 32nd day but no response has been received from the Government side till date.
The protesters marched in the shape of rally from Press Club towards Tawi Bridge, but police stopped them.
They raised slogans in favour of their demands like regularization as per the civil services special provision act 2010 and a policy for the regularization of all the adhoc, contractual and consolidate employees after rendering seven years of services.
Two contractual lecturers Vinod Kumar and Seema Rajput were on fast unto death but the condition of Vinod Kumar after medical treatment for five days at GMC Hospital Jammu is stable whereas the condition of Seema Rajput deteriorated and was shifted to GMC Hospital. One more protesting lecturer Payal Sharma is also admitted in GMC Hospital as her condition also deteriorated.
Sulinder Kumar, Bushan Sharma and Saroj Bala were also on chain hunger strike, but Government never paid any heed towards the grievances of 10+2 contractual lecturers.
While addressing, Arun Bakshi, State President of (10+2) Contractual Lecturers Forum said that Government should avoid its apathetic attitude towards them and adopt a sympathetic way to settle the problem of the highly educated contractual lecturers, who are on hunger strike since February 14.
Arun Bakshi demanded that 10+2 lecturers are also contractual lecturers and should be allowed to continue till further order.
In the protest rally, Karnal Chand, President Kranti Dal Mazdoor Sang and Dr Amina Shekh along with her team also accompanied.
Moreover, Dr Davinder Manyal, MLA Samba along with senior leader Rajeev Charak also visited the protesting contractual lecturers and assured them for taking up their case with the Education Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and the Minister of State for Education. MLA requested the agitating contractual lecturers to drop their idea of fast unto death but Arun Bakshi on behalf of contractual lecturers refused to do till their demands are conceded.
