UDHAMPUR, Mar 3: A young housewife committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her house, here last night.
A police spokesman said that 35-year-old woman, Luxmi Devi, wife of Des Raj of village Kadia Tnas Chenani, presently living at Tangyal Railway road Udhampur, consumed some poisonous substance at her residence last night.
The family members noticed her in serious condition and rushed her to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors washed her stomach. However, she did not respond to the treatment and died after some time.
Later, the body was sent for postmortem. The police after completion of all the formalities, handed over the body to family members.
A case has been registered in this connection for further investigation.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, another young housewife attempted suicide by hanging at a rented accommodation by her family at Shakti Nagar Udhampur. She was identified as 25 year old Priynka Kumari, wife of Manoj Kumar of Bihar, presently putting up at Shakti Nagar Udhampur.
She was found hanging and the family members rushed her to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred her to Army Hospital Udhampur.
Udhampur police has registered the case for further investigation.
