JAMMU, Jan 28: A protest rally was held here today by All J&K Home Guard Welfare Association (JKHGWA) under the leadership of Kamla Sharma, president of the association to press for their demands.
Hundreds of Home Guards across Jammu participated in the protest rally. During the protest, Kamla Sharma accused the authorities for their slackness in implementing Supreme Court Order dated 11-03-2015 for extending benefits to the Home Guards at par with police constables serving in respective states.
Addressing the protesting Home Guards, Kamla said that though Supreme Court Order has been implemented in various States of the Country like Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, MP, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Andoman Nicobar but in J&K this order has not been implemented till now, which is grave injustice with Home Guards serving in the State.
She appealed all the members of J&K Legislative Assembly and Ministers in J&K Government for taking up the issue of Home Guards in the budget session so that the Home Guards of the State may get justice. The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was also appealed for extending benefits to the Home Guards as per Supreme Court directions.
