Hijacked taxi recovered

SAMBA, Apr 16: An incident of hijacking of a taxi by two unidentified persons near Swankha Morh area, under the jurisdiction of Vijaypur Police Station here last night, led to panic and alert in the area even as Police recovered the vehicle this morning from a nearby place while the investigation was on to apprehend the accused, who are believed to be local miscreants.
According to Police, two unidentified persons hired a Tavera Taxi, JK02BB-2997 from Bus Stand Jammu, last night around 10.30 pm. The duo asked the driver Mustaq Ahmad of Rajouri to take them to Swankha for picking up their associate before moving further to Awantipora in Kashmir.
When the taxi reached at Swankha Morh, the miscreants asked the driver to come out of the vehicle and leave the scene. After threatening the driver, the duo took away the vehicle in the dark.
Later, the driver approach Vijaypur Police Station and narrated the whole incident following which all nakas were alerted. The driver told the police that both the miscreants appeared to be locals and had been speaking in Dogri and Punjabi.
In the morning, the hijacked texi was found abandoned in a nearby isolated area. Police seized the vehicle and started further investigation to hunt to accused persons, who are likely to be arrested soon.
