Heritage Week celebrations conclude with traditional folk dances

JAMMU, Nov 23: The traditional folk music and dance programme organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with Kala Kendra, Jammu, Directorate of School Education, Jammu and Department of Tourism here in the open premises of Kala Kendra.
Daleep Singh Parihar, MLA Bhaderwah was the chief guest on the occasion while Sudesh Faghan, president of Bani Kud Samiti, Bani, Narinder Kumar, PRO to MLA Bani, Sushma Rani, incharge Cultural Wing, Director School Education Jammu and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, were also present in the presidium.
While speaking on the occasion, Daleep Singh Parihar requested the students and the youth to know about their culture and adopt the rich old tradition and heritage of the region and respect the values of our rich past. He also presented cash award  to the students present in the programme for the refreshment.
Earlier in his welcome address, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn informed about the future activities of the J&K Cultural Academy.
The artists who performed in the programme were Sudesh Phagan and Party (Kud) from Bani, Mohan Mistry and Party from Udhampur (Haran), Lajwanti and Party (Rutt Rarhe) from Batehra, Rattan Dogra and Party (Phumniaan) from Jammu, Sushmita Bannerjee and Sham Manyal from Jammu. They were assisted by Chandan Jasrotra (Synth) and Darbari Lal (Tabla).
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Bishan Das, Assistant Cultural Officer. A large number of students, youth and local residents of the area including visitors witnessed the programme.
