Helpless border victims

It is rather unbelievable that the Government is showing scant concern for those people who have been injured and incapacitated by the enemy shelling and firing across the border be it LoC or IB. There is lot of talking in Government circles about support to these unfortunate people. But regrettably, the situation on ground does not support the claims of the authorities.
Old Care Society (OCS) of Viklang Chhatra Trust (VCT), an NGO dealing with victims of border firing have come out with a disappointing report of the victims in J&K border strife. Citing examples, the NGO reports that on August 28, 2015, a mortar shell was fired from across the border which hit the joint house of Bhola Ram and Subhash Chander of Village Sai-Khurd, RS Pura, Jammu, adding that all the family members in the house sustained injuries and were shifted to Sub District Hospital RS Pura and Govt Medical College Jammu.
In another examples Banso Devi succumbed to her injuries in SHD, RS Pura and Kanta Devi breathed her last at GMC Jammu. The husbands of both the deceased ladies had to undergo bone grafting. The State Government gave one lakh for the deceased persons and five thousand for the injured for treatment. Prime Minister has given approval to the enhancement of victims of cross border firing from Rs 3 lakh to 5 lakh. We would appeal the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir that in accordance with the Prime Minister’s approval, the amount of compensation may be paid to these victims at an earliest.
