JAMMU, Jan 5: Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat inaugurated 2nd International Art Exhibition, being organized by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts, Jammu (JKCCA) in collaboration with Kala Kendra, Jammu at Kala Kendra galleries.
MY Taing, former Director General Culture, was the guest of honour on the occasion, while ND Jamwal, Jang S Verman and Pt Kewal Krishan Sharma were the special guests.
In his welcome address, OP Sharma, Director, JKCCA highlighted the achievements and activities undertaken during the year. He said that the organization is regularly displaying art exhibitions and conducting art camps. He said that JKCCA is committed to promote art, culture and literature in the country.
In his address, Mohammad Yousaf Taing emphasized that the infrastructure facilities need attention by the State Government. He also said that art centres should also be developed at Srinagar.
Bali Bhagat in his address showed concern with the affairs of art in the State. He said that he will bring the prevailing scenario in the State in the notice of the concerned Ministers so that infrastructure and other facilities will be extended to the people concerned with art and culture.
Forty six artists including five artists from USA, Russia, Bangladesh and Turkey are participating in this exhibition. The Indian artists whose work has been included in this exhibition are VS Rahi (New Delhi), N D Jamwal, TS Batra and Jang S Verman (Jammu) in the invitees section, Naqishbandi, Ashok Mehra, Mohammad Akram Khan, Jasleen Singh, Anuradha Devi, OP Sharma, Amrit Kaur, Jatinder Kaur and Rekha Gupte from J&K.
Other prominent artists from other States of the country whose works have been displayed in the show are Prabhinder Lall from Chandigarh, Mamta Patel from Gujarat, KS Gill, Mala Chawla, Dharminder Sharma and Deepa Singh from Amritsar, Varsha Sonkar from Maharashtra, Dr AK Dixit, Harbans Jolly, Divya Sharma, Sunita Kumari and Archana Sharma from New Delhi, Ashutosh Nigam, Vijaya Singh, Pratima Singh from UP, Archana Chaudhury from Bihar, Chaman Sharma from HP, Deepathi Jayan from Tamil Nadu, Dr Amita Khare from Gwallior, Gaytri and Harsimrat Kaur from Punjab, Simrjit Kaur, Rekha Sharma and Kartika Vaidya from Bareilly. Various trends and techniques have been reflected in the works of these artists.
The 2nd International Art Exhibition has been curated by OP Sharma, Director, JKCCA.
