HC’s directive to Trial Court in Chopras murder case

JAMMU, Oct 1: In a Criminal Revision Petition filed by Puneet Chopra seeking quashment of the order passed by Principal Sessions Judge Jammu regarding closure of evidence  in the much publicized Chopra family murder case, Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed the Trial Court to dispose of the application of prosecution before October 10, 2014.
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Veenu Gupta appearing for the petitioner, Justice Rabstan observed, “counsel for the petitioner during the course of argument has fairly stated that the prosecution has filed application under Section 540 CrPC (recalling of prosecution witnesses) and the court deferred the consideration of this Criminal Revision till application filed by the prosecution is considered and decided by the Trial Court”.
The High Court directed Trial Court to dispose of the application without proceeding further in trial preferably before October 10, 2014.
