JAMMU, Mar 30: High Court has stayed the selection list of Junior Engineer (Electrical) and issued notice to the State through Commissioner Secretary Power Development Department and Service Selection Board.
The stay was granted in a petition filed by Sanjeev Kumar and others through Advocate Rahul Sharma.
After hearing counsel for the petitioners, Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir issued notice to the respondents. “The case set up by the petitioners is that selection of Junior Engineer (Electrical) has been made on the basis of criteria notified”, Justice Mir said, adding “in the criteria, five points have been reserved for Bachelor of Engineering, which is impermissible as the same is not provided by the rules”.
High Court further observed, “distinction in between the two groups—Diploma holders and Degree holders is in built not to be applied at the stage of selection process”.
Accordingly, High Court ordered status quo—position as it exists shall be maintained.
