HC stays eviction of ex-Minister from Govt

JAMMU, Mar 30: High Court today stayed eviction of former Minister in NC-Congress Government, Ajay Sadhotra from Government accommodation.
The direction was passed in a petition filed by Mr Sadhotra challenging his eviction from the Government accommodation by the present dispensation. The petitioner submitted that he is a former legislator and the official respondents without complying with the procedure under the Jammu & Kashmir Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized occupants) Act 1988, are seeking to evict him from the quarter at Gandhi Nagar.
After hearing Advocate Ajay Sharma appearing for the petitioner, Justice B S Walia issued notice to Principal Secretary, Estate Department and Director Estates returnable before April 9, 2015 for filing objections. “Till filling of the objections, respondents shall maintain status-quo with regard to the petitioner’s quarter”, Justice Walia directed.
