HC stays closure of 45 brick kilns

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 4: High Court has stayed the operation of notices regarding closure of brick kiln units in Kathua and Samba districts.
The stay was granted in a petition filed by 45 brick kiln units challenging the order of Regional Director State Pollution Control Board whereby closure of their brick kiln units has been ordered.
After hearing Advocates Yasser Ejaz Tak and Anshhuja Tak appearing for the petitioners, Justice Tashi Rabstan issued notice to State which was accepted by Deputy AG PS Chandel, who was granted week’s time to file response. “Subject to objections from other side and till next date before the Bench, the impugned notices regarding closure of brick kiln units shall remain stayed”, the High Court ordered.
