HC shoots self at DGP residence

JAMMU, Nov 19: A policeman deployed on guard duty at official residence of DGP at Bikram Chowk was injured today after he shot self with his service weapon.
“Head Constable Subash Chander (Belt No 183/IR, PID No: 871535-ARP) of IRP 12 Battalion, shot self with his service rifle today at about 10:30 am, when during conversation with one of his family members on phone, he lost his temper and became aggressive”, a police spokesperson said.

Other police officials on guard duty rushed him to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu, where his condition was stated to be critical. The spokesperson said in this connection, a case FIR No 259/2018 under Section 309 RPC had been registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and further investigations started.
The spokesperson further said that DGP Dilbag Singh had not shifted to his official residence as yet and was living in his previous residence allotted by Prisons Department.
