HC seeks report on regularization of daily wagers of judiciary

Srinagar, May 15: High Court today directed the Government to file the affidavit within three weeks indicating therein steps taken for regularization of daily wagers of the judiciary.
Court directed the State to file its stand about the observation made by the Supreme Court in which State Government has been blamed for creating situation of recruiting a large number of persons on daily wage basis in the State.
In the first instance Court directed the State counsel to file the affidavit within a period of three weeks indicating therein as to what steps have been taken for regularization of daily wagers working in High Court as also in subordinate court.
During the proceedings of the case court observed that why not posts are created for daily wagers and these are absorbed especially when there is dearth of staff in this court as well as subordinate courts.
State counsel M I Dar (AAG) submitted before the court that he may be granted some time to seek instruction from the Government as the issue is serious. “You can do it in batches. If they are large in number”, court observed, adding “We want to know your seriousness”.
Meantime court has been apprised about the shifting of District Court Srinagar to its new court complex situated at Moomin-Abad. Court said it will be shifted after due completion as “we are also keen for its shifting”.
It may be mentioned here that Supreme Court in SLP filed by the Government against DB order observed that Government is responsible for creating situation of recruiting persons on daily wage basis on large scale.
