HC seeks report from PDA on solid waste management

Srinagar, May 25: High Court today directed the Pahalgam Development Authority to inform the court about installation of appliances and mechanism for effective Solid Waste Management in and around the resort.
The direction followed after the CEO PDA submitted before the court that the appliance for treatment of SW in the resort will be installed in near future.
It may be mentioned that earlier Division Bench had directed the Chief Secretary to call upon all the authorities for effective Solid Waste Management in all the tourist resorts and report the court on next date.
Meanwhile, in tune with the earlier direction a representative of Hotel Grand Mumtaz submitted before the court that the invoice with regard to plantation of 7500 trees be issued by DFO Forest Division Lidder by tomorrow and as and when the same is issued they undertake to furnish and plant these trees in and around the resort as per the court directions.
Court in this regard directed the CEO to submit his affidavit indicating therein that these trees have been supplied by the hotelier and planted in and around the resort.
With regard to renovations of structures of natives of Phalgam which are in dilapidated condition, court has been informed that BOCA authorities are only permitting the hoteliers to undertake the repairs and renovations of their structures and natives of Phalagam which are living below poverty line are not being allowed to do so.
In this connection AAG has assured the court that committee for the purpose shall take cases of all those whosoever has approached the committee for necessary repairs or renovations of their structures.
