HC seeks report on Dal lake

SRINAGAR, Oct 11: The High Court today asked the recently formed three member expert committee on Dal lake to visit the water body and submit the report of inspection of lake to the Court.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Alok Aradhe in view of awful and poor condition of the lake asked the Committee to inspect the lake as soon as possible and submit the report to the Court.
Meanwhile, Court appointed one Mangu Singh Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Delhi Metro Rail Corporation as third member of the committee in place of Dr E. Sreedharan who was appointed as a Chairperson of the Committee of experts to the effect that his present health conditions do not permit him to discharge sincerely his responsibility as a Member of the “Committee of Experts” and has wished to be discharged from this assignment.
Court on September 18 had constituted a three member expert committee for conservation, protection and restoring the glory of Dal lake after observing that the rehabilitation and restoration of lake has been impeded despite crores of rupees haven been spent but so far nothing happened on ground and added, that immediate measures are necessary before the situation is rendered hopeless.
Apart from the expert committee, Court has already constituted Monitoring Committee, Scientific Advisory Committee and two members of Court Commissioners.
