HC seeks record of petitions against JKCA

SRINAGAR, Aug 19:High Court today sought record of two identical petitions regarding misappropriation of funds in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association pending before the Jammu wing of the High Court.
Before issuing notice to the respondents, the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar after hearing counsel for the petitioners sought record of those two petitions which relates to the instant PIL and are pending before the Jammu wing of High court.
The PIL has been filed by the two persons namely Majid Yaqoob Dar and Nissar Ahmad Khan who have been the Ranji Trophy and Club Level players respectively.
The petitioners are alleging that crores of rupees have been swindled by its so-called office bearers and called in question the “fraudulent device” of using the said money of association for their personal use.
Petitioners are praying for investigation of matter by a high level team of reputed police officers or from any authorized department.
They also seek investigation of FIR No.27/2012 registered in Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh Srinagar and for bringing the guilty to book and to remove office bearers of JKCA who according to them have got themselves elected on 12.5.2014 fraudulently and dishonestly.
The counsel for petitioners during arguments stated that about Rs 40 crore have been misappropriated and further Rs 50 lakh are being misappropriated.
Those who have been arrayed respondents in the PIL include BCCI through its Secretary, Farooq Abdullah(President JKCA), Chief Secretary of the State, Director General of Police, SSP Srinagar, Ehsan Mirza, Saleem Khan and Moti Lal Nehru.
The court fixed the next hearing of the matter for August 26.
