JAMMU, Feb 12: State Judicial Academy today organized one day workshop for Munsiffs/Judicial Magistrates of Jammu province.
The workshop was organised on personality development and stress management; leadership role of judge as captain of ship in the trial court; punctuality, unnecessary adjournment of cases and consequences of shortfall in disposal in the service career of Judicial Officer and special provisions relating to bail in certain offences against women with reference to offence of rape.
The workshop was organised under the guidance and patronage of Chief Patron of State Judicial Academy, Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Governing Body of the State Judicial Academy, Justice Alok Aradhe (Chairman), Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal (Members).
Justice Alok Aradhe, Chairman J&K State Judicial Academy, in his inaugural address, advised the Judicial Officers to follow three Ps—Punctuality, Promptness and Probity as the litigants in the court room and outside have tremendous faith and confidence upon the trial judge.  He referred to Article 51-A of the Constitution of India which envisages that it is the duty of every citizen to strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity so that the nation constantly rises to higher levels of endeavour and achievement.
He further emphasized that the Judicial Officers are the eyes and ears of the Judicial Academy and it is only through interaction, discussion and deliberation, that judicial skills are further enhanced which improves the quality of justice.
Justice Janak Raj Kotwal, Member State Judicial Academy, shared his long experience of case flow management with the young Judicial Officers and while highlighting importance of the workshop said that stress management and time management are two interlinked terms and the Judicial Officers have to make a balance between the two.
He shared his varied experience with the Judicial Officers and gave practical tips to  them as  how to overcome stress during heavy work load and at the same time ensure proper time management and case management in the court room. He also highlighted that time is precious for everyone in the court room and with creative court craft, case flow management and time management, it will be easy for the trial judge to prove productive in the court and rate of disposal will naturally increase.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Director, State Judicial Academy Abdul Rashid Malik gave an overview of the programme and deliberated upon the need for organizing programmes on personality development and stress management.
In the first session, Dr Rajan Salalia, Faculty, Art of Living as well as State Teacher Co-ordinator, J&K dealt with personality development and stress management and imparted basic physical training to the Judicial Officers as how to overcome stress and strain in life.
Sanjay Dhar, Registrar Vigilance, High Court of J&K and Abdul Rashid Malik, Director State Judicial Academy in the 2nd session deliberated upon the topics: Punctuality, unnecessary adjournment of cases and consequences of shortfall in disposal in the service career of Judicial Officer and special provisions relating to bail in certain offences against women with reference to offence of rape.
