HC directs SAC not to proceed against Gurezi

Srinagar, Aug 18: The High Court today directed the State Accountability Commis-sion not to proceed ahead in a complaint filed against Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Nazir Ahmad Khan (Gurezi).
The complaint has been filed before the Commission stating therein that Gurezi  and his two brothers have received an excess amount of Rs 1, 37,77,000 for Shamilat  (section-5) land acquired for Kishen Ganga Hydel Project.
Division Bench of Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmad and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey while hearing a petition filed by Gurezi challenging the complaint and process taken there-under directed the Commission not to proceed in the complaint.
It has been alleged that the Collector Land Acquisition JKGHPP Gurez after completing the legal formalities has issued notice for recovery of the excess payments made and therefore, the Commission may initiate the proceedings against the petitioner in the matter.
The petitioner submitted that having registered the above complaint, the Commission has already issued notice against Gurezi requiring him to appear before the Commission.
Gurezi was seeking direction from the Court that the complaint before the Commission as also the proceedings initiated there by the SAC be quashed.
