HC directive on CCB election

JAMMU, July 20: High Court has directed that the elections to the Board of Directors of the Citizens Cooperative Bank Limited shall be strictly held as per the already notified schedule.
The direction was passed in a petition filed by Dinesh Gupta, Ex-Chairman Citizen Cooperative Bank seeking directions to the respondents to comply with provisions of Section 29 (4) of the J&K Cooperative Societies Act as also court judgment dated April 19, 2017 passed in a batch of writ petitions.
After hearing both the sides, Justice Tashi Rabstan observed, “since date for conducting election has been notified in terms of Notification dated 10.07.2017, it would be appropriate to dispose of this petition with the direction to respondents to go ahead with the election process as per the already fixed date and in any case no further date shall be extended”.
