LEH, Sept 6: Urging the Union Government to remove Article 35-A immediately, Himalayan Buddhist Culture Association (HBCA) said that due to Article 35-A Ladakh gets stepmother treatment from State.
Addressing a press conference, HBCA President Tashi Targais urged Government of India and its people to support in revoking the Article 35-A from J&K. He alleged that due to Article 35-A, State Government imposed its own rule to Ladakh which not only create hindrance in the development but often neglected Ladakh region in all front.
He added that India is a secular country where all religion gets equal treatment thus Muslims are allowed to go on Haj pilgrimage and Christian are allowed to visit Pakistan on pilgrimage tour but unfortunately Ladakhi were deprived of such facilities and not allowed to visit Kailash Mansoravar Yatra.
He believes that from Kashmir to Kanyakumari there should be one law for all people under Indian flag and special laws in J&K indicates that Kashmir is not a part of India.
“We often wonders whether we are Indian National or Pakistani National because even after hoisting Pakistani flag in the Valley on number of occasion, Government of India fails to take any action on them”, said Targais, adding that Ladakh’s major demand is UT with legislature and without revoking Article 35-A and Article-370, UT is not possible at any cost. He said that local political leaders issuing statement in favour of Article 35-A is due to their political compulsion having their own ambitious.
HBCA Chief Advisor former IG Tsering Phuntsog while speaking believed that if Article 35-A is revoked from J&K then all things will work smoothly in the State.
HBCA Vice President Tsering Norbo while sharing his views on Article 35A stressed upon its revocation from State constitution.
