HBCA for inclusion of Bhoti language, opening of Kailash Mansarovar road

LEH, May 15: Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Association (HBCA) Leh has urged the Prime Minsiter to fulfill the long pending demands of Ladakhi including inclusion of Bhoti language in 8th Scheduled of Indian Constitution and opening of Kailash Mansarovar road from Ladakh.
“HBCA have been making continues efforts to include Bhoti language for the past 25 years, but Government of India failed to fulfill the demand”, said HBCA President Tashi Targais while talking to media persons here today.
He alleged that the State and Centre Government always neglected the people of Ladakh particularly the Buddhist community. “If Dogri language can get recognition without any script that also without much efforts then why not ancient Bhoti language having its own script”, he added.
He informed that HBCA delegation led by Ladakh MP Thupstan Chhewang met Prime Minister in the first week of January and appraised him about Bhoti language inclusion. The delegation also met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh who assured them to do his best. The demand was also put before the Centre Interlocutors during their visits to Ladakh and they expressed hope that their demands would be fulfilled soon, Targais stated.
Speaking on the occasion HBCA member and former IGP T Phuntsong said that all parameters required for official recognition of Bhoti language were fulfilled and recommendations from concerned were also put before the Government. He said that all Himalayan regions including HP, West Bengal, Arunachal besides some parts of world also spoke Bhoti language and recognition should be given to this languaage.
He also added that Kailash Mansarovar road is not only holy place for Buddhist but also for Hindus and Jain community and route from Ladakh is not only the shortest route but it will also boost the economy of Ladakh region.
