Hawala channels being used for terror: CM

JAMMU, Jan 16: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said that hawala channels are being used to fund terror/violence in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Since the year 2001, 173 hawala cases have been registered of which 90 cases have been challaned”, she said in the Legislative Assembly while replying to the question of BJP MLA from Jammu West, Sat Paul Sharma.
A total of 45 cases are under investigation while as sanction is awaited in respect of 23 cases”, said the Chief Minister, who is also Minister Incharge Home Department.
When asked about the effects of demonetization of the currency notes on the recent violence in the Kashmir valley or elsewhere in the State, the Chief Minister said, “no such report has been received so far”.
Similar was the reply of the Chief Minister to the question about use of fake currency in generating violence in the Kashmir valley. “No confirm report has so far been received to substantiate this”, she added.
