Srinagar, Jan 13: Srinagar Municipal Corporation today claimed that some local snack (Nadru and Alloo Buji) makers are mixing dyes in their preparation.
SMC Health Officer Dr Shafat Khan said during a routine inspection of food items in the City, they found the local snack makers using dyes for their preparation at three places in Hazratbal Naqashband Sahib, Dastigeer Sahib.
“These dyes are not fit of human use because they can cause irreversible damage to health,” Dr Khan said.
The food items were destroyed on spot and challans was framed against the offenders.
Khan said a trader in Fateh Kadal Narparisthan was found selling substandard food colours alongside industrial colours and dyes, and he has been warned to immediately stop sale within one week.
