Haq for close monitoring of implementation of Govt schemes

KERAN, May 21: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq today held a public darbar in Keran area of frontier district Kupwara to address the public grievances and take firsthand account of the problems being faced by the people living along LoC.
The Minister was accompanied by Minister of State for Haj & Auqaaf, PHE and Power, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, Member Parliament Mir Fayaz, MLA Karnah Raja Manzoor, MLC Javeed Mirchal, DC Kupwara, SP Kupwara and other officers of district administration.
The darbar was attended by a large number of people who apprised the Ministers about their problems and developmental needs  and sought redressal of their grievances.
Abdul Haq directed constitution of a monitoring team in each department for close monitoring of the implementation of Government schemes and to ensure quick and transparent execution of works. The committee would comprise of concerned officers and two public representatives. He said the involvement of public representatives will ensure fair implementation of schemes in far flung areas without any bias or political consideration.
Taking serious note of deteriorated condition of Keran-Ferkin top  road, the Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to immediately take up the issue with the Beacon authorities to  get the road repaired at earliest to mitigate the sufferings of the people.
The Minister also asked the DC Kupwara to take action against Beacon in case they failed to repair the road and take steps to transfer the road back to R&B Department.
Abdul Haq also directed the officials of R&B Department to ensure the macadamization of road stretch  under their jurisdiction during current year.
The Minister assured the people that the issue of providing border tourism status to Keran would be taken up with the concerned. He also directed R&B Department and Tourism Department to construct one guest house each at Mundian and Keran respectively.
Setting two months deadline for the completion of school buildings being constructed under RAMSA at Kundian, the Minister also directed for early completion of under-construction local Bridge.
Abdul Haq also directed District Panchayat Officer and BDO  to ensure release of balance payments of Swachh Bharat Mission within 10-days.
Farooq Andrabi directed PDD officials to provide uninterrupted power supply to the residents. He also directed to provide extra one hour power supply for Sehri and Iftar timing in the ensuing Holy month of Ramadhan. He also directed PDD officials to take immediate steps for providing separate DG Sets for three left out villages of Keran.
On the occasion, Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Mir Fayaz announced Rs. 20 lakh for purchase of hospital equipments out of his MPLAD.
Later, the Ministers laid foundation stone of model village Mundian in Keran. The village will be developed on modern lines and Rs 37.80 crore will be spent in the village to create modern facilities.
