Handicapped persons calls on Sharma

JAMMU, Dec 10: A deputation of handicapped persons led by block president and general secretary Handicapped Welfare Association Akhnoor Mohinder Sharma and Vijay Kumar respectively called on Kuldeep Sharma member Central Social Welfare Board and discussed various problems faced by the handicapped persons in the region with him.
As per a release, the problems discussed during the meeting included decline in enhancement of pension, artificial limbs, reservation in Government jobs, relaxation in transport fares, setting up of vocational training centre for the betterment of handicapped persons.
Mr Sharma assured the handicapped persons that he will take up their problems with Minister of Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi. He announced a vocational centre for handicapped at Akhnoor which will start functioning from next month.
Mr Sharma also announced Rs 1000 per month during training as wages compensation to the handicapped trainees. He also made an appeal to Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to increase the handicapped quota in Government jobs from three percent to 10 percent.
