Hamill pays emotional tribute to Fisher at ‘Star Wars’ reunion

LOS ANGELES, Apr 16: Actor Mark Hamill choked up at several points as he remembered Hollywood icon and his friend Carrie Fisher at the Star Wars celebration.
During a special 40th anniversary convention to celebrate the film series, the 65-year-old actor recalled meeting Fisher in London ahead of their shoot together for the 1977 ‘Star Wars’, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The actress, who died on December 27 at the age of 60 after going into cardiac arrest, was best known for playing Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars film franchise, in which Hamill plays Luke Skywalker.
“I was just bowled over by her humour and her wit, how sardonic she was, how dark she was. Within 20 minutes, she was telling me personal stories about her mother and father that I wouldn’t have shared with you if I’d known you 10 years,” Hamill said.
“As attracted as I was to her, I thought, ‘I couldn’t handle her as a girlfriend. She’s too much. She’s what you would call a high-maintenance relationship’.”
He then emotionally revealed, “Let me tell you, when I go to sleep at night, there’s never a day so far where I don’t think of her.” (PTI)
