Hakla’s plea to PM

JAMMU, Mar 5: Shamsher Hakla Poonchi a prominent Gujjar leader and intellectual today said that Gujjars and Bakerwals who constitute a sizable number of State’s population are the main party to the Kashmir issue.
In a statement issued here, today, he said Gujjars being patriots by core want that the Kashmir issue should be settled keeping in view the larger national interests.
He made an appeal to the Prime Minster to take effective steps in settling the issue so that everlasting peace is restored in the Sub Continent and also the people of State will get rid of the deaths and destruction.
Hakla demanded that whenever any dialogue is held with the stakeholders the Gujjars and Bakerwals must be included in talks as no solution will be tangible in which the community is not taken into confidence.
He said the population of Gujjars and Bakerwals in the State is about 34 lakh and being a peace loving community having different culture and traditions they have always stood by national cause right from the independence of the country.
Hakla said in deciding the fate of the State the Gujjars role can’t be ignored who live in hilly and far-flung and frontier areas.
