Haji Anayat tours border villages, directs augmentation of basic facilities

KARGIL, Nov 13: Continu-ing with his series of an extensive tour to different areas of the district, Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali today visited border villages including Badgam, Majdass, Haral, Khunda, Chanigund, Karkitchoo, Hardass and adjoining hamlets.
During the tour, the Chairman listened to the series of delegations who apprised him of their grievances and sought their redressal. Councillor Chulisk-ambo Akhone Muhammad Hassan and senior officers of the administration accompanied the Chairman.
Haji Anayat Ali announced Rs five lakh and Rs 2.50 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for strengthening of women SHGs in five hamlets of Badgam and Karkitchoo village respectively. He also announced to provide funds for the purchase of carpets for community hall Badgam, kitchen set for women SHG at Chanigund, besides construction of a playground and up gradation of a community hall at Hardass.
Meanwhile, the inhabitants of the border village Badgam, Haral, Majdass and Khunda projected a number of demands that included the repair works of irrigation canal and water supply pipeline at Majdass, creation of additional posts of teachers at High School Badgam, repairing of school building, construction of flood protection bund and establishment of ration store at Khunda. The residents of Badgam projected demand for repair works of an irrigation canal, protection bund along Badgam Nallah, installation of mobile tower and provision of an ambulance.
Responding to the demands of the locals, the Chairman directed the concerned to prepare DPRs for carrying out necessary construction works of irrigation khuls, pipelines, water supply schemes, besides other requisite works. He also directed the engineers of PHE to check the feasibility for installation of hand pumps in these areas.
Deputationists at Chanigund, Karkitchoo and Hardass projected a number of demands like up gradation of Medical Aid Centre to Primary Health Centre and High School to Higher Secondary, repair of water supply pipeline and electric lines besides other demands.
Chairman assured them that all their genuine demands would be addressed in a phased manner and appropriate steps would be taken in this regard.
Interacting with the public delegations, the Chairman reiterated the commitment of the Government to provide better infrastructural facilities and basic amenities to people at their doorsteps and said that the present regime is taking concerted measures to pursue this goal.
