JAMMU, July 2: Governor NN Vohra is likely to act tough against corrupt officials in the Government with his Advisor Incharge Home Department K Vijay Kumar today availing services of a senior Vigilance Organization official as his Officer on Special Duty (OSD) even as the Governor today conferred powers of Ministers on his three Advisors and allocated portfolios among them after induction of retired bureaucrat Khurshid Ahmed Ganai as his third Advisor.
Official sources told the Excelsior that instead of just declaring Government officers and officials as deadwood and terminating their services, the Governor’s Administration was in the process of devising a new mechanism to deal with corruption and a Policy in this regard was likely to be formulated soon and acted upon very strictly.
Advisor K Vijay Kumar, who was Special Security Advisor in the Union Home Ministry prior to joining as the Governor’s Advisor, today appointed SSP Vigilance Organization Jammu-Samba-Kathua range, Dr Haseeb Mughal as his Officer on Special Duty (OSD), indicating that his services could be utilized to develop new mechanism to deal with corruption
“This is a rare occasion when any Advisor or even the Minister has appointed the Vigilance Organization official as OSD with him,’’ sources said, adding that a definite plan to deal with corruption in the Government was in the offing.
A new SSP Vigilance Organization in place of Dr Mughal will be posted shortly, sources said, adding that a drive to cleanse Police and Education Departments of corruption has already begin and some more decisions could be taken in the next few days.
Meanwhile, Governor NN Vohra today ordered that powers exercisable by a Minister will be exercised by the Advisors to the Governor in respect of the Departments they have been allocated.
The Governor today reallocated the Departments to Advisors B B Vyas, K Vijay Kumar and Khurshid Ahmad Ganai.
As per a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) here this evening, the GAD, Planning, Development & Monitoring, Finance, Housing & Urban Development, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, PDD, Industries & Commerce, Ladakh Affairs, Election, Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation & Reconstruction, and Law and Justice & Parliamentary Affairs Departments have been allocated to Advisor B B Vyas.
The Departments of Home, Forests, Ecology & Environment, Health & Medical Education, Youth, Services & Sports, Tribal Affairs, Hospitality & Protocol, Civil Aviation, Estates, ARI & Trainings, Information, Information Technology, Labour & Employment, Science & Technology, and Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs have been allocated to the Advisor K Vijay Kumar.
The Departments of School Education, Higher Education, Transport, Public Works, PHE & IFC, Revenue, Haj & Auqaf, Technical Education, Agriculture Production, Horticulture/ Floriculture, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Cooperatives, Tourism, Culture and Social Welfare have been allotted to Advisor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai.
