SRINAGAR, Oct 19: Law Minister Mir Saifullah has told the National Conference Minority Cell President, Harmohinder Singh, that the Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee elections will be held in the first week of December this year.
A statement of the NC said that Singh along with his delegation held a meeting with the Minister who agreed in principle to hold these elections this year after a decade’s delay.
Saifullah has assured the Sikh delegation that no vested interest will be allowed to scuttle these scheduled elections.
Singh has asked the Sikh community, especially women, to participate in these elections.
S Krishan Jeet Singh, S Joginder Singh, S Mohinder Singh, S Upjeet Singh, S Sewat Singh, and Davinder Kour and Chairman S. Gurdiyal Singh also attended the meeting with the law Minister.
