Srinagar, Apr 14: Scores of residents of Gurez sub-district in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district today staged another protest seeking tunnel connectivity to their area which remains cut-off from rest of Valley during six months every year.
A local said soon after culmination of Friday prayers, a protest rally was taken out from local Jama Masjid and it was led by Imam Jamia Masjid. The protesters marched through main market of the Gurez and later assembled outside Tehsil Office where they reiterated their demand of all weather tunnel connectivity from Gurez to Bandipora.
“We have been demanding all weather connectivity for last several years but our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. We have knocked at every door but to no avail. Every year we are left at God’s mercy during winter season when snow blocks all connecting links to the town. I am unable to understand why Government gives a deaf ear to our grievances,” said Mohammad Younis, a Gurez resident.
