Gur prices up on paucity of stocks

NEW DELHI, May 17:  Gur prices improved by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market in the national capital today following pause in supplies amid speculative buying.
Meanwhile, Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets were steady on scattered deals.
Marketmen said speculative buying in view of thin supplies from manufacturing belts due to adverse weather conditions, mainly pushed up gur prices in Delhi.
In Delhi, gur Chakku and Pedi prices were higher by Rs 100 each to end at Rs 3,500-3,600 and Rs 3,600-3,700 per quintal.
Following are today’s rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 3,500-3,600, pedi Rs 3,600-3,700, dhayya Rs 3,700-3,800 and shakkar Rs 3,900-4,000.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,650-2,700, chakku Rs 2,925- 3,200, khurpa Rs 2,900-2,950 and Ladoo Rs 3,125-3,200.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,150-3,250 and dhayya Rs 3,300- 3,350. (PTI)
