Gur prices up on paucity of stocks, speculative buying

 

NEW DELHI, May 19:Gur (jaggery) prices bounced by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following paucity of stocks due to negligible supplies amid speculative buying.

            Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also depicted a firm trend largely on scarcity of stocks.

            Marketmen said, tight stocks following pause in supplies from manufacturing units, triggered speculative buying, leading to rise in prices.

            In Delhi, gur Chakku and Shakkar prices traded higher by Rs 100 each to end at Rs 3,600-3,700 and Rs 4,000-4,100 per quintal.

            At Muzaffarnagar gur Chakku gained by Rs 175 to end at Rs 3,000-3,375 per quintal.

            Coming to Muradnagar, prices of gur Pedi and Dhayya hardened by Rs 50 each to settle at Rs 3,175-3,300 and Rs 3,350-3,400 per quintal, respectively.

            Following are today’s rates (in Rs per quintal):

            Gur chakku Rs 3,600-3,700, pedi Rs 3,600-3,700, dhayya Rs 3,700-3,800 and shakkar Rs 4,000-4,100.

            Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,650-2,700, chakku Rs 3,000-3,375, khurpa Rs 2,900-2,950 and Ladoo Rs 3,125-3,200.

            Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,175-3,300 and dhayya Rs 3,350-3,400. (PTI)
