JAMMU, Sept 27:   The former Union Minister, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta while commenting on yesterday’s speech of Foreign Minster Sushma Swaraj in UNO the world’s highest body has stressed on follow up actions to expose and depose the evil designs of Pakistan as mere rebuff to the rogue will not be suffice.
While firmly dealing with Pakistan to defeat the cross border terror, there is also the great need to frustrate the activities of agents of the enemy in Kashmir as also elsewhere, he added and suggested for sustained efforts to educate the misled persons as violence and Hartals would not serve any purpose, he added and said Pakistan by its moves is only harming the economic conditions of the people. The ranting of Azadi slogans have little relevance with closure of educational institutions and plying of the service. This should be understood by all concerned that how their future is being jeopardized through evil moves including stone pelting and creating anarchy like situation.
Prof. Gupta also welcomed the move to have a second look into the Indus Water Treaty which was very much against the interests of the people of State who have been suffering for restrictions on use of waters of the rivers and streams.
He recalled that this Treaty was the result of the desire for permanent peace but Pakistan belied all these hopes.  Moreover, Pakistan has never honoured so many other agreements including even that of Shimla and Tashkent, and resorting to repeated violations of ceasefire and indulging in proxy war.
Prof. Gupta also stressed for making fully functional the irrigation sources and utilization of the vast water resources of the State paying little heed to the objections of Pakistan which had been deliberately harming the people of J&K.
In this regard, Prof. Gupta also referred to raising of huge Mangla Dam in PoK to benefit Pakistan and submerging of historic city of Mirpur and forcing people to leave their places. Many of them were compelled to migrate  and settle in England and other countries, he added.
