Gupta, BJP express satisfaction over release of funds for Devika

UDHAMPUR, Feb 9: Pawan Kumar Gupta MLA Udhampur while expressing his satisfaction over the release of Rs 170 crore for the holy Devika in Udhampur also called elder sister of Holy Ganga, for clearance of its developmental projects from the Central Govt. under National rivers conservation plan said that it was a long pending demand of not only people of Udhampur but entire Jammu region who had their eternal faith in this holy place.
Gupta said since the date, he became MLA  Udhampur he strived hard in raising the burning issue at all forms like legislative Assembly, in all district Development Board meetings one chaired by Lt. Mufti Mohd.  Sayeed Chief Minister and review meeting of Dy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh. Mufti Mohd. Sayeed also had assumed publically to take up the matter with the appropriate forums and ultimately the strength of Gupta has been fructified with accord of approval to the project, he added.
He said holy Devika which since the Vedic times is called the elder sister of Holy Ganga, has completely been dilapidated by contamination of its following water rendering dismal its sanity and glory and its restoration will not only strengthen the religions faith of this region but also the leap to the Tourism of this District.
Gupta further demanded that the hefty amount of 170 crores so sanctioned for Holy Devika be utilised judiciously by getting DPRs of the project framed from a matured professional and executed with high proficiency.
Meanwhile BJP State general secretary Pawan Khajuria while complimenting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh for releasing Rs 170 crore for Devika River under River Conservation Plan said it has been a long pending demand of the people of Udhampur.
In a press conference here, today he said Devika  the elder sister of Ganga is highly revered by people and prime Minister during his poll rally at Udhampur had made a promise of restoring pristine glory of the holy Devika and people of Udhampur in general and entire Jammu region highly compliment him for fulfilling the poll promise.
Khajuria also complimented Dr Jitendra Singh for taking personnel interest in getting the funds sanctioned and including the Devika in National River Conservation Plan. He said this has proved that BJP is true to its commitments as it is fulfilling its poll promises made with the people of State one by one.
