Gul conferred ‘Best Speaker of the Year’ award

JAMMU, Feb 2: Mubarak Gul, Speaker Legislative Assembly has been conferred with the Award of “The Best Speaker of the Year” by a social foundation namely J&K (Kashmir to Kerala) at a grand function held at Powai, Mumbai.
The other dignitaries felicitated on this occasion were the Maharaja of Udaipur, Governor of Udisha, Home Minister of Kerala and the Ex-Chief Minister of Karnataka Yeddyurappa.
On the occasion, Mubarak Gul said that strengthening the social and cultural fabric of the country was inevitable under the circumstances as these events bridge distances between various sections of the society. He further said that the people of the country need to understand the importance of the electoral franchise which empowers them to elect the public representatives and Governments and should fully participate in the electoral process.
The Speaker also informed the gathering that after passing tough times J&K is back on the track of the developmental process and respective Governments from 1996 onwards have succeeded in restoring peace and normalcy in the State. He urged upon the participants to visit the J&K known a heaven on the earth and feel the spirit of the hospitality of the people of the Kashmir valley.
