Gujarat ATS nabs two terrorists linked with ISIS

AHMEDABAD: The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat police has nabbed two terrorists linked with ISIS on Wednesday who were planning to attack a religious place in Ahmedabad belonging to Jews community.

The duo under the scanner of ATS for quite sometime was in the social media groups created by an Indian Mujahidin terrorist and wanted accused of 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts. ATS SP Himanshu Shukla and DySP K K Patel told UNI that they have been identified as Uber Mirza, an advocate of Surat and Kasim Timberwala, a native of Ankaleshwar who worked as a medical lab technician. “They had joined the ISIS supporters groups on social media (Facebook, Whatsapp, Imo and twitter) created by one Shafi Armar, a wanted accused of serial blasts, since 2013-14. In 2015 they had provided accommodation and financial help to the four people caught from India-Bangladesh border while they were trying to go to Syria to join ISIS,” Patel said. (AGENCIES)
