JAMMU, Nov 4: The Geological Survey of India’s (GSI) gallery was declared as the best informative and interactive gallery at a three day exhibition on ‘Rise in Jammu & Kashmir-2018’ which concluded here last evening.
The Exhibition was organized by the Govt of India under aegis of PMO at Yatri Niwas Bhawan in which nearly 40 Govt of India’s Departments and PSUs participated. These included GSI, ISRO, IIIM, SAIL etc.
The exhibition focused on space research, power & energy, medication & healthcare amenities, infrastructure development and transportation, IT, science and technology, environment conservation, handloom & handicraft, tourism and culture.
Various Government schemes and policies on these sectors were highlighted.
GSI gallery showcasing rocks, minerals and fossils as specimens along with Thematic Maps on Geology, Engineering Geology, Environmental Geology, Earthquake Geology, Paleontology etc pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir were displayed on panels.
At the valedictory function, Som Nath Chandel, Addl Director General GSI was presented the Best Gallery Trophy. Department of Labour GoI bagged 2nd prize and AYUSH Deptt of Union Health Ministry bagged 3rd prize.
Dr. Neeraj Tondon, Scientist Head ICMR, Munish Kumar were among other dignitaries present on the occasion.
The exhibition was inaugurated by MP Shamsher Singh Manhas.
