JAMMU, Nov 4: On the eve of Vishwakarma Day, a huge Shobha Yatra of Lord Vishwakarma was taken out by Pradesh Vishwakarma Sabha in Jammu.
The Shobha Yatra was flagged off from Gurha, Bakshi Nagar by Chhedi Lal Vishwakarma (president, Akhil Bhartiya Vishwakarma Mahasabha- Kolkatta) along with Labha Ram Gandhi (West Pakistan Refugee leader), Kuldeep Verma & Rashpal Verma (former VCs OBC Board) and Raj Kumar Verma (Corporator).
The colourful Shoba Yatra passed through Canal Head- Jewel Chowk- Gummat- Raghunath Bazar- City Chowk- Indira Chowk- Medical College and culminated back at Gurha, Bakshi Nagar Temple.
The Shobha Yatra depicted beautifully decorated scenes related to the creations of Lord Vishwakarma like Ram Setu, creation of Earth, Defense Missiles, Sudershan Chakra & Dwarka Nagri for Lord Krishna and Trishul for Lord Shiva.
Throughout the way, the environment was fully religious as devotees were chanting Bhajans on loud speakers and slogans in praise of Lord Vishwakarma. A large number of people including women and children from all parts of Jammu province participated in the Yatra.
Shobha Yatra was greeted with stalls of water and eatables by Guru Ravi Dass Sabha at Krishna Nagar, Team Jammu at Jewel and Nek Hotel at Gummat. On the occasion, Shashi Verma, president of the Pradesh Vishwakarma Sabha reiterated the demand of gazetted holiday on “The Vishwakarma Day”.
Chief Guest, Chhedi Lal Vishwakarma, while sspeaking on the occasion, said, “We are proud to have rich culture and traditions.” Supporting the demand of holiday on Vishwakarma Day, he said that it is legitimate and it has already been given in UP and many other states.
Raman Chalotra (Youth wing president), and Rakesh Chalotra (Shakti Nagar unit president), along with their teams of a large number of youth on foot and motor cycles was a special attraction of Yatra. Jhankis from Digiana, Bhagwati Nagar and New Plot were also part of the Shobha Yatra.
Prominent among others who walked along the Yatra include Poonam Verma from UP, Lakhpat Rai (Retired DC), Puran Chargotra, Rattan Lal Chargotra, Madan Chalotra, Captain Lal Chand, Ramesh Angotra, Rampal Chargotra, Mangaldas Verma, Purshotam Chargotra, Kartar Chand, Bittu, Nittu Verma, Rattana Verma and Tara Chargotra.
