Srinagar, Sept 30: Grand Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic, Dr Ahmad Badr Eddine Mohammad Adib Hassoun, today concluded his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
The Grand Mufti had visited under the distinguished visitors’ programme of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. He was accompanied by a Syrian delegation which was headed by the ambassador of Syria Dr Riad kamel Abbas. The Grand Mufti termed his visit to Kashmir as highly fruitful and enriching and he prayed for the peace and prosperity of the State.
On his arrival is Srinagar, the Grand Mufti was received by Regional Director of ICCR, J&K, Balwant Thakur who also coordinated with the Government of J&K regarding his visit and meetings with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari and interactions with media people.
While interacting with media, Balwant Thakur informed ICCR’s objectives are to actively participate in the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes pertaining to India’s external cultural relations, to foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and other countries, to promote cultural exchanges with other countries and people and to develop relations with nations.
