Grameen Bank organizes campaigns under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan

JAMMU, May 1: Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion Department under the chairmanship of  R K Chhibber,  conducted  Government  of India campaign on the theme of “Gram  Swaraj Abhiyan” in the remote unbanked village Sukhetar under Branch Kotli Jhajjar, tehsil-Dansal in Jammu district.
K L Sharma, Regional Manager Jammu, J&K Grameen Bank, made people aware about the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, a GoI programme for covering the poor population in the villages of districts Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua & Samba. He advised all the branches falling in his region to enroll more and more persons under the social security schemes so that the poor and unreachable population may also get the benefits of these schemes. He also advised the bank staff for door to door banking under this campaign so that everyone may get benefit. The programme mainly focused on to enroll more and more individuals under these Social Security Schemes viz Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
Vipan Gupta, Sr Manager, Micro Finance & Financial Inclusion, J&K Grameen Bank was also present at that occasion. He directed the concerned that the branches should achieve 100 percent target in terms of opening accounts under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), enrolment under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bhima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bhima Yojana (PMSBY). He highlighted that the campaign will continue till May 5, 2018, and is aimed to promote social harmony, reach out to poor rural households, spreading awareness about Government welfare schemes, enhance livelihood opportunities and re-emphasize national priorities including cleanliness and strengthening of Panchayati Raj institutions.  At present the bank is touching 70,000 enrolments in social security schemes.  3000 enrolments have been done by the bank so far under this campaign in just 17 days.
Smriti Kesar Wani, Block Programme Manager NRLM and Chanda Rani, Cluster Coordinator of village Sukhetar were also present on the occasion.
Amit Laira, Branch Head Kotli Jhajjar, also made the people aware regarding use of social security schemes.  RuPay debit cards were also distributed to the customers.
