Grameen Bank conducts ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan’ campaign

JAMMU, July 11: Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion Department of J&K Grameen Bank in collaboration with Regional Office Bandipora conducted the campaign ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan’.
The campaign was conducted under the chairmanship of Janak Raj Angural in remote villages Debbugjh and Dobiwan under the Branch Office Kunzer and Dobiwan.
A.K Dogra, Deputy Secretary DFS was the chief guest on the occasion and he made the people aware about Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan for covering the poor population in villages of districts Baramulla and Kupwara.
He advised all the braches of his region to enrol more and more persons under the social security schemes so that the poor and unreachable population may also get benefits of these schemes.
The programme focused on maximum enrolment of people in social security schemes like-Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
LDM Baramulla, Altaf Ahmed Bani reviewed the campaign and appreciated the efforts of the bank towards social security schemes.
He said that the bank is making extraordinary efforts to make the national programme of social security schemes a big success. He aware the gathering about these schemes and requested them to enrol under these social security schemes.
Vipan Gupta, Sr. Manager, Micro Finance & Financial Inclusion Department, JKGB was also present on the occasion and he highlighted that Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan Phase 2 started from June 1 will be there till August 15 in 187 villages of Regional Office Baramulla and Kupwara.
He informed that in 40 days the bank enrolled 7689 persons under the social security schemes.
The masses were also educated about technological innovations in banking industry including NEFT/RTGS, Online Banking, IMPS, SMS Banking, Rupay Card, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System and Direct Benefit Transfer etc to promote the digital banking and move towards the less-cash economy.
RuPay debit cards were also distributing to the customers on this occasion.
