Grameen Bank conducts enrolment programmes under Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan

JAMMU, July 12: Under Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan, J&K Grameen Bank conducted programmes at village Choukar and Ogumana, Bandipora.
Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion Department of the Bank under the chairmanship of Janak Raj Angural carried on the programme.
A.K Dogra, Deputy Secretary DFS, was the chief guest on the occasion and he made the people aware about Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan which is for covering the poor population in the villages of district Baramulla and Kupwara.
He asked the bank staff for door to door visits under this campaign so that everyone should get the benefit.
While reviewing progress under Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan, LDM Baramulla, Altaf Ahmed Wani said, it is an initiative for reaching out to the poor households in villages of Baramulla and Kupwara.
The programme focused on maximum enrolments in Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
Wani hailed the efforts of the bank towards social security schemes and said that the bank is making extraordinary efforts to make the national programme of social security schemes a big success.
Vipan Gupta, Sr. Manager, Micro Finance & Financial Inclusion Department was also present during the occasion and he informed that Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan Phase 2 started on June 1 and will be there till August 15 conducting programmes in 187 villages of regional office Baramulla and Kupwara.
He said that in 41 days the bank has enrolled 8194 persons under social security schemes.
He instructed all the Branch Heads of Baramulla and Kupwara region to open the accounts of unbanked population of backward areas of these 187 villages under PMJDY, PMJJBY and PMSBY.
He further asked all branches to attain 100 per cent saturation under social security schemes in these 187 villages.
Around 300 people attendant the camps and about 250 enrolments was done during the programme.
The masses were also made aware about technological innovations in banking industry including NEFT/RTGS, Online Banking, IMPS, SMS Banking, Rupay Card, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System and Direct Benefit Transfer etc to promote the digital banking and move towards the less-cash economy.
