JAMMU, Mar 13:  Former MLC and PCC chief spokesperson,  Ravinder Sharma has questioned the decision of the Government to club Kalakote with Koteranka, thus weakening the claim of new district comprising of Nowshera, Sunderbani & Kalakote, which was already recommended by the Billoria Commission and the Cabinet Sub Committee of previous NC-Congress Coalition Government.
Expressing concern over the continued bandh in Nowshera and Kalakote and unrest in Sunderbani over the failure of the Government to consider the demand of district status and resolve the issue of ADCs as per demands of three Sub-division, Sharma said that any attempt to defeat the objective of carving out a district as per earlier commitments to the people of these areas, would opposed by tooth & nail.
He strongly criticized the move of the Government, which would cause hardships to the people of Kalakote constituency and sought review of  the same in the larger interest of people and to maintain peace and communal harmony. He said there was strong resentment amongst the people, as any sinister move would send a wrong signal in the entire region. He said only geographical contiguity and convenience of people should be the sole criteria for administrative units and not any other considerations of on political and other vested interests.
Ex-MLCs that political interests and mishandling of the entire issue at various levels has complicated the problem in Nowshera and other areas and there is no road map with the government to resolve ongoing unrest.
