Govt urged to resume work on Rattle Power Project

KISHTWAR, Dec 21: Expressing concern over the Government’s failure to tap up the water potential in erstwhile Doda district for the generation of electricity and its failure to resume the work on Rattle Power Project at Kishtwar, the unemployed educated youth of the district today urged the authorities to resume the work on the project immediately. The meeting, which was chaired by senior Congress leader and Member of Kissan Development Board Kishtwar, Shamsher Singh Bhandari said that a large number of youth of the district have become idle after the company abandoned the work on the project over three months back. Bhandari said despite the repeated please to concerned authorities they failed to resume the work on the project. He made an appeal to Government to issue directives to the company to resume the work failing which the work should be allotted to any other company. Bhandari also expressed grave concern over power crisis in the erstwhile Doda district in these chilly days of Winter and said had the Government started the construction work on various power projects in the State the J&K would have not only become self sufficient in power generation but also sold power to other States. Tilak Raj Shan, Farooq Ahmed Tapal and other youth activists attended the meeting.
