Govt unnecessarily linking regularization of judiciary daily wagers with others: HC

Excelsior Correspondent
Srinagar, Mar 12: High Court today said that State Government is unnecessarily linking the issue of the daily wagers of judiciary with those of the other departments and directed it to take final call on regularization of daily wagers of judiciary.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmad and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey has made it clear that the observations made by the Supreme Court are with regard to the daily wagers of judiciary and directed to take the final call on the issue.
“We are now directing the Finance Department to take a final call on the matter at the earliest and definitely before the next date of hearing”, DB said and made it clear that this issue cannot brook any further delay.
“People who have been working as daily-wagers in this institution for over ten years are performing their duties regularly  and without which it may not be possible to run this institution”, DB recorded.
DB while reiterating its previous order said this court has made it clear that the observations made by the Supreme Court pertained only to the Judiciary, i.e., the High Court and the District Judiciary and not to any other department of the Government.
“Therefore, the Government should take up the issue of daily wagers separately insofar as the judiciary is concerned”, reads the order.
Court said the same be immediately complied with because otherwise it would amount to interference with the course of justice.
The State counsel submitted that he shall ensure that the authorities understand the order correctly and immediate action is taken with regard to processing the long pending requisitions of 22.03.2013 and 18.05.2017.
